What is cyber-painting?  Cyber-painting is a unique blend of fine art and digital art to create an entirely new medium.  Edward X. Young is one of the few artists working successfully with this new method.  Ed Young's cyber-painting is created by the artist first producing a series of figure studies using the old methods of pencil, pen & ink, or painted figures.  The images are then re-created by "drawing" the subject using a mouse on a digital "canvas".  Edward Young adds background "paintings" using a mouse and a variety of computer tools to enrich the image.  Since the architecture of each image is dependent upon the artist's natural ability to create fine art, the final image is one of vivid expression.

"There is an excitement to creating a whole new art form.  The opportunity to explore new ways of making images come alive without losing the beauty of classical paintings is the new frontier of the art world for the 21st century."
- Edward X. Young, March 2, 2001, "Art in the Twenty-first Century" Symposium.
